Security Lighting -
Notes and Photos by Able Group Inc.
The need for perimeter safety around a public property is often solved with proper illumination. The lighting fixture
choices must suit the purpose without "over-lighting" an area which will draw complaints from neighboring properties. Security lights must
also have vandalism as a priority. Installations should be out-of-reach if possible. We've posted some examples here of specifically designed
lighting which are economical, energy wise and shed light where it is needed most. Flood lights can be used at high reach locations because they
are adjustable and are broad-beamed for wide area coverage. Today's LED technology has provided the market with a whole new line of security lighting
fixtures. The HID (high intensity discharge) types are still the most often used for best economics and results. Security lighting
always requires a reliable lighting activation system in order to turn on a large group of lights at dusk.

Note the small LED wall mounted lighting fixture we installed at the corner of this building in Center City Philadelphia.
This location was ideal for two reasons: The electrical power was easily taken from an interior room receptacle directly opposite
of the corner wall. The height is perfect for illuminating this dark corner without an objectionable appearance yet being
out-of-reach to vandals. Finding the best case scenario is what we do. This low profile automatically controlled LED light
fixture will add the security benefit with minimal energy and last a very long time.
